Bordering Lay Tong Ku

The modern world is now crowding in on Lay Tong Ku. With the cessation of much of the active fighting within the Karen nation, the Thai government and other groups now have the confidence to invest in the area. The government road, school, clinic, irrigation and electrical systems are being upgraded. NGO's and American and Thai Christian groups generously give time, money and guidance - improving communications, wellness, and living conditions.
But the Karen Ruessi elders, while appreciative, recognise this as a threat to their traditions, beliefs, and self identity.
Isolated for so long, the Ruessi's are ill prepared for and fearful of forces threatening to overwhelm them.
